Apprenticeship Case Study: George King – Finance Admin Apprentice

“The staff I have worked with have really supported me throughout my role and have helped me with any questions or problems that have occurred.”

After studying a BTEC Level 3 Sport Course for two years at Petroc, I applied for an apprentice role at Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust as a Finance Admin Apprentice. I never expected myself to go into this type of work but it was an amazing opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and learn something new.

Working with a management accounts team, I had a set timetable in which tasks needed to be completed by a certain deadline which enhanced my organisational skills but also pushed me to do more and complete the task quicker and more efficiently. After improving my time management within the first few months, I then managed to fit more tasks into my schedule, meaning I received work from the financial services team. This gave me an idea of how each area works and how they end up linking together to complete deadlines. This gives me a better understanding of how they communicate between each other but also provide support.

The staff I have worked with have really supported me throughout my role and have helped me with any questions or problems that have occurred. Moving forward, I am hoping to complete my apprenticeship with high grades so I can achieve more qualifications.
