We provide assessment, treatment and advice for adults with communication disorders and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).
Speech and Language disorders include those associated with the following aetiologies: brain injury, stroke, progressive neurological disorders, communication disorders of the elderly, learning disability, physical disability, ENT (voice), head and neck surgery including laryngectomy and dysfluency (stammering).
Assessment and advisory support is also given for swallowing problems (dysphagia) and for communication aids/augmentative communication.
The service comprises three components:
- Acute and outpatient services at NDDH
- Community services for inpatients, community rehabilitation and outpatients
- Learning disability services (delivered to the partnership trust)
