There are two permanent rheumatology consultants at the trust, Dr Stuart Kyle and Dr Roope Manhas. Additionally, the team is supported by a rheumatology trainee (registrar) and a GP trainee (SHO). More information on our staff is shown below.
Dr Stuart Kyle
Dr Stuart Kyle has been a consultant rheumatologist at North Devon District Hospital since 2008. Dr Kyle is very much a general rheumatologist with areas of specialist clinical interest including psoriatic arthritis and biologic medications. Dr Kyle is clinical lead for osteoporosis. Dr Kyle does rheumatology clinics in North Devon District Hospital, South Molton and Holsworthy.
Dr Kyle has been Associate Medical Director for 3 years; this includes the role of Appraisal Lead for the Trust. During this time Dr Kyle has become increasingly interested in how we provide evidence of our clinical performance and outcomes.
Dr Roope Manhas
Dr. Roope Manhas has been a consultant rheumatologist at North Devon District Hospital since September 2010. Dr. Manhas is a general rheumatologist seeing patients with inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disease, vasculitis and soft tissue rheumatological conditions. He undertakes rheumatology clinics at North Devon District Hospital and Bideford Community Hospital. Dr. Manhas is also trained in general internal medicine and acts as on call physician at North Devon District Hospital, allowing him to interface effectively with other medical specialties.
Dr. Manhas has been Director of Research at North Devon District Hospital since April 2014 and oversees all clinical research projects undertaken within the Trust. He also hopes to inspire future generations of researchers in his role as junior doctor quality improvement champion, encouraging and mentoring junior doctors to undertake small projects that improve the quality of care we give to our patients.
