About our service

We provide services to the following areas:


  • Inpatient dietetic care for appropriately referred adults and paediatric patients at North Devon District Hospital and South Molton Hospital.
  • Telephone advice to other community hospitals.
  • Ensuring that the hospital meals meet nutritional standards
  • Eastern Community Hospitals are covered by Dietetic dept at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

    • Joint adult Diabetes Dietitian and Diabetes Nurse clinic

    • Specialist weight management clinic as part of North Devon Weight Management service
    • Eating disorders clinic
    • Head and Neck Cancer multi-disciplinary support team clinic
    • Telephone clinic (for patients unable to travel to the clinic)

    • Low FODMAP (Fermentable Oligo-saccharides, Di-saccharides, Mono-saccharides And Polyols) diet for Irritable bowel syndrome
    • Other groups when requested, eg upper gastrointestinal cancer support group, colorectal cancer support group.

    • Contribute to staff Health and Wellbeing events
    • Nurse Preceptorship nutrition training
    • Junior doctors nutrition training
    • Nutrition in Critical illness, part of University of Plymouth Masters module.
    • Nutrition section of Essential skills for support workers course
    • Nutrition section of Registered Nurse training on Diabetes
    • Nutrition section of Health Care assistant training on Diabetes
    • Ward staff training as required on different subjects eg. Nutrition screening, food allergen awareness.
    • Other events – eg. Careers fairs
  • Individualised staff and patient training in association with feeding company nurse for patients going home on enteral feeding.

Student Training

  • Clinical placements for first, second and third year Student Dietitians from University of Plymouth.
