Mr Anjum Arain qualified from Medical College Karachi, Pakistan and did his post-graduation in Dublin Republic of Ireland, gained a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery in France and trained in the south west region of Ireland. He joined North Devon District Hospital in 2007 where he takes an active part in general and colorectal surgery. He has also taken part in Lapco, the National Laparoscopic Training Programme. He specialises in bowel cancer offering open and laparoscopic surgery tailored to the patient’s needs. He also has an interest in laparoscopic groin hernia repairs apart from the colorectal cancer surgery, and also benign anal conditions such as anal fissure, fistulae, haemorrhoids offering stapled haemorrhoidectomy, B banding of haemorrhoids and doppler guided haemorrhoidal artery ligation (DGHAL), camera test examinations of the bowel in the form of colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopies and is a registered member of the national endoscopy bleed rota.
As a team member of the colorectal department he offers general and colorectal surgery together with laparoscopic hernia repair and gallbladder surgery.
