Living with a long term health condition can be frustrating, tiring and worrying.
There are many challenges involved, especially when dealing with difficult or unpleasant symptoms, procedures or treatments. It’s understandable that this can cause people to feel down, stressed or just not their usual selves.
The Talking Health Service provide support and treatment for people with long term health conditions.
The Talking Health Service is a team of psychological therapists who specialise in providing support and treatment to people who may be struggling to manage the impact of a long term health condition, including diabetes.
We know that people who have a long term health condition such as diabetes are more susceptible to experiencing common mental health problems including low mood, anxiety and stress. In turn these common mental health problems can make it even harder to manage diabetes well, and both someone’s mental and physical wellbeing can suffer.
We are a free NHS service offering evidence-based psychological treatments to people across North Devon, to help them reduce the burden of managing and coping with diabetes. More information can be found, and people can self-refer, via https://www.dpt.nhs.uk/ourservice/talking-health
