Result Interpretation:
<100 ug/g faeces: severe pancreatic insufficiency
100-200 ug/g faeces: moderate pancreatic insufficiency
>200 ug/g faeces: normal

Test Usage:
Faecal elastase testing may be used in the diagnosis or exclusion of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, which can be caused by a range of illnesses. These include, but are not limited to, chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, diabetes mellitus, cholelithiasis, failure to thrive, pancreatic cancer or papillary stenosis.
