There is good evidence from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) that self-help books can help people understand and manage common conditions.

We have a collection of books to help you or to help you support a patient, friend, relative or colleague when they need you. We have books on a number of self-help topics including mindfulness, pain, stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression and many more.

Please see here for a list of our available titles. We are adding to our collection all the time. If you can’t find the book you need please ask us. We may be able to obtain a copy from another NHS library.

We also have a small collection of leisure reading books to help you relax.
