Evidence Searching

Man looking at computer

We can help with research and study – the library is here to support all staff and students.

Library staff can provide a professional evidence search service or training on how to carry out your own evidence search.

Please contact the library about how we can help – we are happy to support you in your research, course work or general enquiry.

Evidence search databases and tools

NHS and healthcare staff/students have access to various search databases with an NHS OpenAthens account:

Referencing – free online tools

  • MyBib – Free Harvard referencing generator.
  • Menderley Desktop – Referencing software available for free download.
  • Cite This For Me – Free Harvard citation generator.
  • Zotero – A free tool to help you collect, organise, cite, and share research.

Evidence search help

Request an evidence search

Do you need information to support clinical practice or your research project? Looking for evidence to update a policy or guidelines? Do you require articles for your teaching session? We can help by carrying out a evidence search on your behalf.

If you would like us to undertake a evidence search for you, please fill out our online request form here or email ndht.library@nhs.net.

Request evidence search training

If you are undertaking a course of study we can support you by providing training in how to carry out a evidence search.  This can be a 1:1 or small group session at a time convenient to you during library opening hours (Mon-Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm).

We aim to give you the knowledge you need to carry out your own research, which is an essential part of the skills needed for your course of study, whatever level you are studying at.

To access our training sessions, please fill out the online booking form here.
