The Friends and Family Test comprises just one simple question: Overall, how was your experience of our service? All patient responses are entirely voluntary, anonymous and confidential.
With a set of six response options ranging from ‘very good’ to ‘very poor’, the Friends and Family Test is intended to capture as closely as possible the patient’s feelings about their recent experience. Patients are invited to explain briefly why they responded in the way they did.
The Friends and Family Test is a Department of Health initiative and all Trusts are required to publish their Friends and Family Test results nationally, facilitating transparency.
