Samples required to diagnose COVID-19

The requirement is

  • viral swab (a single viral swab used for throat then nose in the same blue top transport tube)
    or
  • nasopharyngeal aspirate

Samples must be sent to pathology laboratory. See Trust infection prevention and control guidance for managing patients (link above).

Consultants discussing COVID-19 scenarios

The clinical reference group want to support all our doctors to feel prepared to care for patients with COVID-19.
