Day 20 – Alice Daymond and Zoe Leonti-Woods, midwives

Zoe talked to us about her work and her highlights of the past year.

What do you do for the Trust?
I am a midwife working in the Ladywell Unit on Delivery Suite and Bassett Ward.

What makes you proud of your work?
Being able to care for women throughout their pregnancies, labour and in the postnatal period. Getting to know the women and their families and being part of such a special experience.

What was your highlight of 2018?
I started at NDDH in April, which meant that I could finally move home after my training and working away. I then completed my preceptorship in October, with excellent feedback from my colleagues. It felt amazing to reflect on the year and see how far I’d come!

A preceptorship is a structured period of transition for any newly qualified staff member. During this time, staff are supported to develop their confidence as an independent professional, and to refine their skills, values and behaviours.

Top tip for a great Christmas?
Always leave space for dessert!
