Day 15 – Gemma Fraser, community care and support worker for Eclipse Care

What do you do for the Trust?

As a community care and support worker for Eclipse Care we work in partnership with the Trust to ensure we provide high-quality person-centred care for the individuals we support.

Eclipse Care is one of the care providers the Trust works with through the Devon Cares service. Devon Cares doesn’t deliver care directly, but works with local providers to organise domiciliary care. Being part of Devon Cares means that Eclipse Care has evidenced that they have robust policies to ensure clients receive high-quality care and have made a commitment to work together with the NHS and other social care providers in northern Devon to improve the quality of care for clients and increase capacity within the domiciliary care system.

What makes you proud of your work?

Ensuring the individuals we support are able to remain as independent in their own home for as long as possible, and knowing that I am making a positive difference to their everyday life.

What was your highlight of 2018?

Starting a new job with Eclipse Care – their  values reflect my own.

Top tip for a great Christmas?

Begin with gratitude. Before you begin handing out the gifts and tearing into them, take a moment to reflect on all of your blessings and look at all the good you have in your life and be grateful.
