The Trust has been exploring the use of drive-through to deliver some patient care, and patients who have taken part have given it their stamp of approval.
In this video, patients who have experienced some of our drive-through services share their thoughts about it.
In addition, we are seeing very positive feedback through our patient surveys. Looking at the feedback gathered over the past three months, 99% of patients ‘would recommend’ the drive-through cardio-respiratory service, rating it either ‘very good’ or ‘good’.
Where is the drive-through and what is available?
We set up a drive-through facility in the main public car park at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) in December 2020. Some essential support services are now available via the drive-through, including:
- Collection of cardio-respiratory monitoring equipment
- Spirometry (breathing) tests
- Collection of some prescriptions
Other services are testing the use of a drive-through approach. The COVID-19 testing team are piloting same-day testing for some endoscopy patients. This allows patients to have a COVID test about an hour before their procedure, rather than three days before. This way, patients can have their endoscopy on the same day, avoiding multiple trips and three days of self-isolation.
