NDHT maternity: an update on Bassett Ward visiting restrictions

We are regularly reviewing our visiting arrangements in the maternity department during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is to ensure the safety of the women and babies in our care, as well as our staff and the public.

Due to rising COVID-19 prevalence in northern Devon, please note the following change to restrictions for visiting on Bassett Ward.

From Saturday 21 November 2020:

  • Instead of one long daily session of visiting hours, we will have two shorter daily visiting sessions. One partner or designated individual may visit Bassett Ward between 10am-1pm, or 3pm-6pm. Visits must be booked in advance by contacting the ward directly.
  • Once a visitor leaves the ward they will not be able to return on the same day.

Please note there are no changes to maternity visiting restrictions other than for Bassett Ward. Restrictions in place for scans, appointments, and labour have not changed since our update on 2 October 2020.

We understand these restrictions may be difficult for mums and their partners, but we’d like to reiterate this is to ensure the continued safety of our mums, babies and staff, whilst ensuring visiting can continue.

All our visiting guidance is on the visiting page of our website.
