Baby Remembrance Service

baby-remembrance-candleEvery year, the Chaplaincy service holds a Baby Remembrance Service in conjunction with North Devon Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity.

This remembrance service usually coincides with Baby Loss Awareness week in October (9-15th),but sadly, due to the ongoing restrictions around Covid 19, we will be unable to hold our annual service in 2020

Instead we would like to invite you to join with others who have experienced the loss of a baby before, during  or shortly after their birth, to light a candle to their memory on we have created one called ‘N Devon Baby Remembrance’.

If you would like to talk to someone please do contact Rev Julie Cartwright on 01271 322362 or email

Little Snowdrop
(Author unknown)

The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn’t bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.
The little one we longed for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.
