Tony Neal reappointed to the Trust Board

Mr Tony Neal has been reappointed as non-executive director of the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust Board.

Tony, who lives in Chulmleigh, joined the Trust as a non-executive director in January 2016. He is the chair of the Trust’s governance committee, a member of the audit committee and is a trustee of the charitable fund.

Tony said: “I’m pleased to be able to continue in my role working in northern Devon. The dedication, enthusiasm and care shown by all staff here is a constant inspiration. I look forward to doing my bit to help the Trust face the challenges of the next two years, and deliver excellent care for all our patients, their families and the communities we serve.”

Tony has a background in IT and business consultancy with a particular focus on organisational planning, development and change. He has extensive board level experience from previous roles with BT and Fujitsu. He holds a number of accreditations relating to project management and delivering change.

Tony is also chair of governors at a local primary school and is involved in volunteering within his community.

James Brent, chairman of the Trust board, said: “I am delighted that Tony has agreed to a further term with our Trust. Tony has brought a wealth of experience to the Trust Board and this will be of immense value as we continue our work to ensure the clinical and financial sustainability of services in northern Devon.”

Suzanne Tracey, chief executive of the Trust, said: “Tony has been a valued member of the Trust Board for four years and we have benefitted greatly from his expertise and work as chair of our governance committee. I’m really pleased that he will continue to offer his advice and guidance following his reappointment.”

  • The reappointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ Code of Practice.
  • Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts are made by NHS Improvement and are subject to the Governance Code for Public Appointments. NHS Improvement ensures that all appointments to NHS trust boards throughout England are made in a way that is open, transparent and fair to candidates. Mr Neal has not declared political activity nor does he hold ministerial appointments.

  • The remuneration for this role is £10,000 per annum.
