National Cardiac Rehabilitation Awareness Week 2020

Our cardiac rehabilitation team have been out and about for National Cardiac Rehabilitation Awareness Week 2020 (9-15 March 2020). They have been working hard to increase awareness of their service and prevention of heart disease.

Coronary heart disease is the one of the UK’s leading causes of death and the most common cause of premature death. Making healthier lifestyle choices can reduce the risk of developing heart and circulatory disease.

Remember: just being more active in our day-to-day lives can make a huge difference. Following the chief medical officer’s guidelines of 150 minutes of physical activity per week can reduce your risk by as much as 35% (British Heart Foundation January 2020).

  • Our cardiac rehabilitation nurses spoke to customers at Tesco Taw View in Barnstaple. They talked about heart disease and promoted healthy lifestyle choices. They also walked around staff areas at NDDH to promote a healthier workforce.

  • The #pullupyourfunkysocks campaign was brilliant and sparked some great conversations. The team would like to thank everyone for their support.
