Dementia café summer special at NDDH

Staff and volunteers at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) are keeping it cool and are putting on a special summer dementia support café.

The café will be held from 4pm-6pm on Wednesday 21 August in the Raleigh Galley Restaurant, Level 0, at NDDH.

Angela Walter, Admiral nurse, with volunteers

The regular dementia support café runs twice per month at NDDH. It offers a place where people caring for those living with dementia can learn more about dementia and the local support available, whilst volunteers spend time with their loved one.

As well as the advice, refreshments and entertainment that are available at every dementia support café, during this summer special there will be summer cakes, live music and a sing-a-long with local trio the Mutt ‘n’ Jeoffs.

Angela Walter, Admiral nurse at Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We wanted to put on something special this summer for anyone living with dementia and those who care for them. Everyone is welcome – come and join in!

“As well as all the fun we’ve got going on, we’re here to listen, advise and help people living with dementia and their carers, so please do come and chat with us whilst our volunteers spend time with your loved ones.”
