NDHT extends partnership with Sodexo

Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust (NDHT) has extended its soft services contract with Sodexo for a further three years.

Sodexo employs approximately 300 people at North Devon District Hospital (NDDH) and provides a wide range of facilities management services, including:

  • Catering
  • Cleaning
  • Portering
  • Helpdesk and reception
  • Security
  • Courier

The new contract comes into effect in September 2020 and will take the partnership with Sodexo to 26 years.

The contract extension will see Sodexo invest in the refurbishment of the shop and café areas at NDDH and in new vehicles for courier services around the hospital and healthcare sites across North Devon and Cornwall, including local GP surgeries and five community hospitals.

Iain Roy, director of facilities at NDHT, said: “The Trust has been working with Sodexo for over two decades and over this time our partnership has become stronger and stronger. Our non-clinical staff from Sodexo are an integral part of providing quality care and a good experience to our patients, visitors and staff.

In the latest national patient survey of overnight hospital care we achieved some of the highest scores in the country for patients feeling well looked after by non-clinical staff, which is testament to the excellent relationship we have, and will now continue, with Sodexo.”

Stuart Winters, CEO of Healthcare, Sodexo UK & Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to be extending our partnership with the Trust, which will see us working together for a total of 26 years. During this time we have developed a strong relationship and have more than two decades-worth of insight in the provision of great patient experience.

“We are looking forward to continuing to work with North Devon District Hospital in revitalising the food and retail areas of the hospital and in providing vital courier services for integrated health and social care community services across the region.”
