You may have come across the Eatwell Guide before, it is a guide on how much energy we should be aiming to get from each different food group over the day. The foods are divided into groups based on what they contain the most of, but can fall in more than one group (for example beans are a source of protein but could also be included in the fruit and vegetable section). Cutting out any of the food groups, including carbohydrates can lead to a diet that may lack important nutrients. If you plan to go on a low carbohydrate diet it is worth seeing a dietitian to make sure this isn’t the case.
