Food Myth – Honey is better than sugar if you have diabetes

Honey was used by our ancestors for all sorts, such as dressing wounds because of its antimicrobial properties. You may have heard of different types of honey known for their antioxidant content, Manuka and sourwood honeys are examples of honeys with higher antioxidant levels.

There may be some special properties in honey but there is still sugar and although it is from a different source than white sugar it will still affect your blood sugar levels. When it comes to diabetes, honey isn’t as useful as you may think. “Oh bother”, said Pooh.
