The Trust has been notified that BT will be doing urgent works to the phone and data lines coming into and out of North Devon District Hospital this evening.
The works will take place between 9pm and 7am and phone lines could be down for this whole period. For those ringing in, the phone will continue to ring but there will be no answer.
The Trust has set up dedicated mobile numbers for people to dial to contact the switchboard. During 9pm-7am tonight, members of the public can call the hospital on the following number:
Andy Ibbs, director of operations and strategy for the Trust, said:
“We have put robust plans in place to make sure the public and health professionals can still contact the hospital during the period when our main phone line will be down.
“We would be really grateful if the public could help us with this by sharing the contact number with anybody they know who is vulnerable and hard to reach, and who might try to contact the hospital this evening.
“We expect switchboard to be busy, so we are also asking people to consider whether they need to ring the hospital tonight, or whether they can ring back via the main hospital number after 7am tomorrow.
“We’d like to thank everybody for their support with this.”
