Trust publishes 2007/08 Annual Report

At the Annual General Meeting on 3 September, the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust published the Annual Report for the financial year running from April 2007 to March 2008.

The report documents the achievements of the last year and provides useful information on the Trust and its services.

Some of the highlights were:

  • The Trust achieved financial balance without cutting any services
  • According to the Healthcare Commission, this Trust is one of the most improved Trusts in England (from a weak-weak rating in 2006/7, the Trust is expected to achieve a good-fair rating in 2007/8 for quality of services and use of resources respectively)
  • The Trust’s maternity service was rated one of the best in England in a the Healthcare Commission inspection report
  • The Trust hit the national 18 week waiting time target months ahead of target and other Trusts in England
  • The Board agreed to a £23.5million refurbishment programme which starts in Autumn 2008 with a new outpatients department at NDDH.
  • NDDH was judged to be in the top 14% of hospitals for cleanliness

Chief Executive of the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust, Jac Kelly, said, “This year has seen the Trust bounce back from two extremely testing years. We achieved financial balance and were proud to publish a service strategy containing very exciting ideas and plans for the future of NHS services in North Devon.”
