Parking award highlights trust commitment to safeguarding visitors

The car parks at North Devon District Hospital have been recognised for their continuing high levels of safety and security for visitors.

Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust has had its Park Mark renewed under a scheme set up by the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), following a police assessment.

The award – first earned by the hospital in 2003 – reflects commitment to minimising crime, against both people and vehicles.

Key factors taken into account for the award include lighting, closed-circuit TV, staff patrols and the presence of the Trust’s on-site policeman, PC Nick Daffern.

Tricia Hawson, Facilities Manager, said: “We’ve worked hard with the police to make sure we’re doing all we can to make sure people who park on the site are safe and secure.

“The last thing you want when going to hospital is to have to worry about your car as well.”
