Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, which has responsibility for North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple and for local community hospitals, has appointed Ms Jane Reynolds as a non-executive director.
Jane, who lives at Instow, is a qualified accountant and has several years’ experience in senior financial management posts with Marconi (formerly GEC and Plessey).
Her appointment commences on 1 June 2007, is for four years and has a remuneration of £5,875 a year. Her appointment has been made in accordance with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments code of practice.
She joins the Board, which sets the strategic direction for the Trust and oversees its progress.
All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity to be made public. Jane Reynolds has declared no political activity and holds no other ministerial appointments.
Brian Sherwin, Trust Chairman, said: “We’re delighted that Jane is joining us, especially at such an exciting time. We should be back in financial balance by the end of this year and are gearing up for the major refurbishment of the main site, which will give us a renewed hospital by 2011.
“Jane’s financial experience will stand us in good stead as we continue with our programme for improving services and efficiency, so we get the most from every pound of taxpayers’ money.”
