Visiting times

Afternoons: 2.30pm to 8pm

If you need to arrange a visit outside the set visiting times please let the ward know.

At certain times the ward may be closed for several reasons. For example, confidential discussions sometimes need to be held between staff and patients or there may be a patient rest period or a teaching and development session.

Meal times

Breakfast: 8.30am to 9am
Lunch: 12.30pm to 1pm
Dinner: 5.30pm to 6pm

During protected mealtimes, visitors are not permitted, unless they are helping you to eat. This allows patients time to eat their meal in peace. Protected mealtimes may vary slightly. Please check with the individual ward about times.

PEAT scores

Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) is an annual assessment of inpatient healthcare sites in England. PEAT inspects standards across a range of services including food, cleanliness, infection control and patient environment (including bathroom areas, décor, lighting, floors and patient areas).

In the 2011 PEAT inspection, Sidmouth hospital scored ‘good’ for environment and ‘excellent’ for food and privacy and dignity.

National Patient Safety Agency inspections: In the recent NPSA inspections, Sidmouth Hospital was judged to be ‘good’ for environment and cleanliness and an ‘excellent’ rating for the food served there.

Travelling by Car

Visitors and staff should respect the site’s neighbours. If parking on residential roads surrounding the site becomes a problem for residents, the local authority may implement a ‘residents only’ parking scheme or impose parking restrictions.

On-Site Parking Arrangements:There is no visitor parking on the hospital site. There is only limited disabled parking at the front of the building. Staff car park is operated by a barrier system and also has a limited number of spaces.
