What we do
The Tyrrell Hospital is a community hospital, which first admitted patients as long ago as 1864.
Many different out-patient clinics are also held here, including audiology, ear, nose and throat, general medicine, general surgery, gynaecology, nephrology, urology and various. The hospital also hosts other services, such as chiropody, family planning and genito-urinary clinics.
Minor Injury Unit open 8am – 6pm (closed Christmas day)
Mealtimes for patients
During protected mealtimes, visitors are not permitted, unless they are helping you to eat. This allows patients time to eat their meal in peace. Protected mealtimes may vary slightly. Please check with the individual ward about times.
We welcome visitors from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.
League of Friends provide two daily newspapers and a weekly local journal for patients’ use.
There is a ward cordless phone which can be taken to patients if there are incoming calls.
On-site parking is free, but limited. Please ask your visitors to be sensitive to local residents when leaving their vehicles to come and see you.
League of Friends
The Tyrrell Hospital League of Friends plays an important role in supporting the hospital and providing much needed equipment. Members also raise money for ‘extras’ to support patients.
If you would like to find out more or to help, please ask at the hospital reception for League of Friends contact details.
