Arrhythmia Service

This service is available to patients who have been diagnosed in a Cardiology clinic as having an irregular heartbeat or abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia).

It aims to optimise the management of patients with arrhythmias to improve quality of life and reduce the likelihood of being readmitted to hospital through:

Close collaboration with primary and secondary healthcare professionals to provide patients with a package of care which includes:

  • Contact details
  • Specific education, advice and support about arrhythmias
  • Advice about tests for arrhythmias
  • Advice about treatment for arrhythmias
  • Pharmacological education and treatment compliance
  • Effective links to professional help/advice
  • Promotion of self-management and lifestyle changes

Provision of educational and training opportunities to ensure that all primary and secondary healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with arrhythmias receive regular updates

Patient participation in service planning and design through involvement in the arrhythmia steering group.
