Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Services

The Physiotherapy Outpatient Service aims to provide high quality care to North Devon patients with musculoskeletal conditions. There are Teams based at Northern Devon Healthcare Trust, GP practices in the Barnstaple area and community hospitals through out North Devon (Bideford, South Molton, Holsworthy, Ilfracombe).
All of our physiotherapists are registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC), this is the national regulatory organisation that ensures standards for training, professional skills and behaviour.
We receive in excess of 14,000 new referrals each year from GP’s and Consultants who we work closely with. We treat a variety of musculoskeletal and post operative conditions in patients of all ages. We also provide Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy input to the Rheumatology, Neurology and Obesity Services.
We have gymnasiums that are used for rehabilitation classes and a hydrotherapy pool. All Physiotherapists receive continual postgraduate training in order that we are able to offer our patients safe, effective and evidence based care.
Our clinicians use a wide variety of approaches including manual therapy, exercised based rehabilitation programmes, acupuncture (A patient information leaflet for acupuncture is available here) and electrotherapy. We accept and train students from the University of Plymouth.
