General information:

Tiverton hospital was officially opened in 2005. It is a satellite unit for Plymouth University, to facilitate learning opportunities for health care students.

Services provided at this hospital:

Inpatient and elderly mental health beds, maternity services, a minor injuries unit and a day case unit, pharmacy, a community dental service, outpatients, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, chiropody and audiology. An adult mental health service is based on site, also Tiverton is a base for a Psychological Therapy Team, and the hospital is the base for the multidisciplinary Complex Care Team. A Monday—Friday full x-ray facilities and a morning x-ray service is available on Saturday and Sunday. A GP Practice is also based at the hospital.

PEAT scores

Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) is an annual assessment of inpatient healthcare sites in England. PEAT inspects standards across a range of services including food, cleanliness, infection control and patient environment (including bathroom areas, décor, lighting, floors and patient areas).

In the 2011 PEAT inspection, Tiverton hospital scored ‘good’ for environment and ‘excellent’ for food and privacy and dignity.
