Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust’s stroke therapy team has been shortlisted for this year’s Advancing Healthcare Awards.
The team were shortlisted for the award for entrepreneurship for developing their stroke rehabilitation app review website, the first website of its kind in the UK.
The mytherappy website is designed to help patients and clinicians find the best apps to aid in rehabilitation and recovery following a stroke or brain injury. The website features a whole range of apps that have been tested by a network of clinical specialists and patients. The apps are also rated and categorised depending on what they can help with.
The website is now being used by clinicians and patients across the UK and worldwide.
Ruth Siewruk, advanced practitioner occupational therapist for neuro and stroke, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.
“We want to empower patients to manage their health in the way that is right for them, and this new website helps those who are recovering from a stroke or brain injury to do exactly that.”
The CDL (Chamberlain Dunn Learning) award for entrepreneurship recognises and reward projects and professionals that lead innovative healthcare practice and make a real difference to patients’ lives.
The team will find out if they have won at an awards ceremony in London on Friday 31 March.
