A cleaner at North Devon District Hospital has been named the best in the country.
Caroline Wait collected the Cleaner of the Year prize at Sodexo’s annual Centre of Excellence Awards at Ascot Racecourse.
Domestic cleaner Caroline was nominated for her dedication, customer service, exceptional professionalism and total commitment to her role.
She also scooped the Kathy Ridgard Award, in memory of the late director of the Centre of Excellence.
Presented by Kathy’s husband and two daughters, the award recognises an individual who has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Caroline said: “I still can’t believe I won the Cleaner of the Year Award and was very touched to also receive the Kathy Ridgard Award.
“It is great to receive recognition from the business and from our chief executive, Debbie White, for doing a job I love. I’m already looking forward to the next event.”
Sodexo employs over 35,000 people in the UK and Ireland and provides cleaning, catering, portering and other services at NDDH.
Sharron Loosemore, deputy contract manager for Sodexo at NDDH, said: “We are all extremely proud of Caroline for achieving the Cleaner of the Year Award – it is well deserved.
“Caroline is a great asset to Sodexo and North Devon District Hospital.
“The pride and care which Caroline demonstrates in ensuring her department is cleaned to the highest standard is second to none.”
The Centre of Excellence Awards recognise and reward top-performing individuals and teams who deliver service excellence and demonstrate specialism in health and wellbeing, cleaning, security, grounds or building maintenance.
Caroline also came away with £100, glassware and a Kindle Fire HD while Simon Pears, head of security for Sodexo, visited NDDH to present her with an extra prize.
